The modern urban water and sewage network is one of the most complex and extensive infrastructure systems, and its operational efficiency and maintenance are crucial factors affecting the quality of urban life. Among these infrastructures, underground utilities can cause significant damage if accidents occur, necessitating efforts to prevent such accidents in advance. Therefore, the need for monitoring systems for these facilities is emerging. Currently, various monitoring technologies have been developed and are in operation to solve a variety of problems. However, some of these systems are only applicable in specific environments and are often difficult to implement in the field due to high operational costs. Among the various demands for the development of underground facility management systems, one of the main challenges in the water and sewage network field is to quickly and accurately detect abnormalities in the network and respond promptly when issues arise. One of the previously developed methods for managing water and sewage networks is the Sequential Number Protocol. This method assigns numbers to each pipe in the network and, when a test signal is received, each pipe transmits its status information to the next numbered pipe. However, this method has limitations when the network branches off into multiple directions or small branches occur in the middle. There is a need for a mechanism to efficiently integrate and transmit the status information of each branch at junction points. To address these issues, this paper proposes the 'Branch Monitoring Protocol'. This protocol is designed to operate efficiently even in complex network structures. |
