In the 21st century, tourist behaviors are increasingly transforming from that of sightseeing-based mass tourism to that of individuals experiencing local culture. Cultural tourism, in which tourists consume cultural tourism resources at the destination, has a significant impact on the tourism market. This study was conducted with the aim of contributing to the sustainable development and revitalization of tourism. For this purpose, the study surveyed tourists who visited Gyeongju, one of Korea’s most popular tourist spots, to examine the current conditions of tourism elements in the city and to analyze the factors contributing to revisits. Also, it aimed to find strategic measures to heighten the satisfaction of tourism in Gyeongju by analyzing geotourism, immersive experiences, and cultural events. The satisfaction tourists felt and their intent to return were also analyzed. The study regards Gyeongju, where historic and cultural relics of the Silla Dynasty can be found, to be a representative cultural tourist site of Korea and thus a tourist site of global standing. Thus, tourists who visited Gyeongju were surveyed to shed light on their tourism activities, satisfaction, and factors that contribute to their revisiting Gyeongju. To this end, the study examined tourism elements and their relationship with one another, and set the tourist’s intent to revisit Gyeongju as the dependent variable for a multiple regression analysis on the factors contributing to revisiting. |
