논문내용 In keeping with the social changes caused by the 4th industrial revolution, software education is being strengthened for future society not only in Korea but also abroad. Recent interest in software education has naturally led to an interest in computer science. Computer science is the study of the theory and principles of computer systems. Knowledge and concept of computer science are fundamental to software education. Recently, CS Unplugged which is a collection of teaching material that teaches computer science through engaging games and puzzles that use cards, string, crayons, and lots of running around, has been widely used in computer classes around the world. So, we examine the effect of CS Unplugged class on learning engagement and academic self-efficacy of the university of education students. For this study, 61 freshmen at a university of education were surveyed about learning engagement and academic self-efficacy between an experimental group that took a CS Unplugged class and a control group that took a traditional teaching class. The collected data were analyzed by the t-test using SPSS. The results of this study are as follows. First, the learning engagement of the experimental group showed a statistically significant difference compared to a control group(t=-4.535, p<.001). Second, the academic self-efficacy of the experimental group showed a statistically significant difference compared to the control group(t=-3.588, p<.001). The results show that CS Unplugged class has positive effects on learning engagement and academic self-efficacy of the university of education students.
