논문내용 Blockchain is a technology that safely and transparently manages account information, transaction information, and computing processes in a peer-to-peer network through verification, agreement, and sharing of multiple nodes. Since blockchain technology is in its infancy, researchers’ attention has been focused on developing its underlying technologies - blockchain platforms, consensus algorithms, distributed databases, security enhancement measures, etc. Meanwhile, for a rich blockchain ecosystem, various applications and services that can run on stabilized platforms must be developed, and the applicability, pros and cons of those applications and services must be reviewed. However, it is difficult to find reliable data and reference materials that can inquire and compare the status of major blockchain platforms. This study investigates four major blockchain platforms: Ethereum, EOS, Tron, and Steem. They are public blockchains where anyone can participate in interactions - read, write, verify, consensus - with the blockchain, and are promising in terms of decentralization, immutability, and reliability since they are already equipped with sufficient stable underlying technologies and a large number of users and applications. We summarize the concepts and terminologies necessary for understanding the platform status, and analyze and compare the current status, characteristics, popular application service areas and distributed applications of the four platforms. This study provides information on the current state of blockchain platforms, suitable application fields, and reference materials, necessary to develop a blockchain-based distributed applications.
