In international relations, soft power has emerged as a pivotal factor influencing a nation's sway and effectiveness in diplomacy. The United States is regarded as the most powerful nation in terms of soft power. However, American values, or the American dream, are showing cracks, and this country is gradually losing the great power status expected by the rest of the world. Artificial intelligence is leading the conjunction of technologies and industries in the era of the 4th industrial revolution. Therefore, this paper delves into the potential of artificial intelligence (AI), leveraging techniques such as ChatGPT and Stable Diffusion to illuminate the disparities between computer-generated opinions and public perceptions within soft power analysis. By harnessing AI-generated imagery, researchers can visually encapsulate abstract concepts pertinent to soft power policies, facilitating a comparative evaluation of computational assessments vis-a-vis real-world public sentiments. Through the juxtaposition of AI-generated images with empirical data on public sentiment, this inquiry aims to discern any incongruities in how soft power initiatives are interpreted by AI algorithms compared to their reception by real-world audiences. By undertaking such an analysis, we endeavor to furnish insights that can inform evidence-based policy formulation and illuminate the shifting terrain of international relations in the digital era. |
