This study aims to analyze the current condition of a phenomenal smartphone overdependence and to suggest alternatives by analyzing a survey report on Current Condition of Overdependence on Smartphones by National Information Society Agency in which how this phenomenon in risk groups has changed year by year. The main results of this study according to the previous ones and the report on Overdependence on Smartphones from 2012 to 2020 by National Information Society Agency are as follows: First, the proportion of risk group of overdependence on smartphones has been steadily increasing every year since 2012 and it reached up to 23.3% in 2020 which is by another 12.2% compared to 2012. Second, in the risk group of overdependence on smartphones as of 2020, the proportion of overdependence on smartphones of men(24.4%), teenagers(35.8%), women and youths(36.5 %), middle schoolers(39.6%), students(31.6%), infants and children in dual-income family(30.9%), infants and children(27.4%) and youths(35.7%) in adoptive parents family was relatively higher than the other comparing groups. Third, the recognition rate of Internet Addict Prevention Center(37.1%), the experience(23.1%) and degree of help(69.4%) in preventive education have been shown relatively low. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct customized tests based upon gender, generation and school age for infants, children, students (elementary and middle schoolers) and their parents who have been exposed overdependence risk, and to develop professional counseling, preventive education, treatment programs or to revise existing programs. There would be also a strategy for increasing the recognition rate of Internet Addict Prevention Center which is a counseling service institution for risk group of overdependence on smartphones. |
