This study was conducted with the aim of providing implications for the method to support university adaptation of new students of science and engineering college, by analyzing factors that affect their academic performance by combining personal and family factors, high school and university factors. The results of the study are as follows. First, female students had higher academic performance than male, and students who had a lot of study time had high. Students with intrinsic motivation had high academic performance, but students with external motivation had low. Students who entered the regular admission had higher academic performance than those who entered in rolling admission, students who went to high school-university same tracking had higher academic performance than those who went to cross tracking. Second, parents' educational background and status of economic activities, basic ability improvement program and the satisfaction level about university did not affect the academic performance of new students at all, but grades of science course of high school and major satisfaction on university has been shown to have a positive impact. Based on the research results, the following suggestions were made. First, university officials need to establish strategies for motivation of first-year boys who are not interested in academic performance due to military enlistment, and should try to provide personal study time by running basic ability improvement programs to new students. Second, it is necessary to operate a learning counseling program that helps new students put their motivation into learning pleasure or self-development, and to develop and provide a program that helps them set a vision for their major-related careers to improve their major satisfaction. |
