The purpose of this study was to understand the effects of personal and educational factors on creativity and convergence competency of science and engineering college students. For this purpose, 499 second-year engineering students at A University in 2019-2021, were targeted for the study, and the influence of independent variables was explored using the change in creativity and convergence competency of the first and second graders as dependent variables. The research results are as follows. First, the gender of students did not affect the change in convergence competency, whereas the change in creative competency of male students was higher than that of female students. In addition, it was found that the prior level of creative competency did not affect the change in creative competency, whereas the higher the pre-level of convergence competency, the slower the change in convergence capacity. Second, it was found that the face-to-face class method significantly increased the change in creativity and convergence competency than the online class, but there was no difference in the change between the face-to-face class and the parallel class. In terms of satisfaction with major education, both creativity and convergence competency were found to increase when the initial value of the curriculum was high and the amount of change in the curriculum increased. |
