A multimedia connection in the multi layer cellular system typically utilizes three important network resources: wireless link resources, wireline link resources and processing resources. However, meeting guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS) parameters such as the forced termination probability and the delay bound of hand off calls is difficult in wireless environment during/after the hand off execution due to terminal mobility, limited resources of the wireless link resources and fluctuating network conditions. This thesis contributes a set of hand off management schemes for providing transparency to mobile users through efficient and, in certain cases, optimal use of these network resources. The micro cellular systems with an extremely small cell radius can provide high traffic capacity. But it cannot meet the minimum residency time requirements for calls of a fast moving mobile terminal. To minimize the problem, we had designed a multi-layer cellular hand off scheme in which the macro cell size of the upper layer is dynamically selected according to the call hand off rate and failure of the fast moving mobile terminals[1-2]. The overflow and take-back scheme are adopted in the system. And we designed a performance analysis model and analyzed the performance of it by mathematical and queuing methods. The proposed scheme has showed the probability to provide more effective QoS to mobile users. |
