The purpose of this study was to explore factors that influence children’s excessive immersion in smartphones. For this purpose, we surveyed 251 guardians who use daycare centers in the Daegu area to determine the factors that influence children's excessive immersion in smartphones, namely, parents' smartphone awareness, smartphone use environment, parents' parenting attitude, and children's self-regulation ability. The influence of variables on children's excessive immersion in smartphones was analyzed. As a result of the analysis, first, the smartphone use environment was found to have a direct impact on parents' parenting attitudes. Second, parents' smartphone awareness and smartphone use environment were found to have a direct impact on children's self-regulation ability. Third, parents' smartphone awareness, smartphone use environment, parents' parenting attitude, and children's self-regulation ability were found to have a direct impact on children's excessive immersion in smartphones. Fourth, parents' awareness of smartphones and smartphone use environment were found to have an indirect effect on children's excessive immersion in smartphones through parents' parenting attitudes and children's self-regulation ability. The results of this study suggest that intervention on parents' parenting attitude, smartphone use environment, and children's self-regulation ability is necessary in program development and teaching methods to reduce children's excessive immersion in smartphones. |
