The purpose of this study was conducted to identify the relationship between parents' awarencess of smartphone, rearing attitudes, and children's smartphone overindulgence. The subjects of this study were two hundred fourty eight parents with children who were attending early childhood education institutions in D city. The findings of the study were as follows. Parents' awarencess of smartphone differed according to the period and time of children's smartphone usage. It was found that parents' perception of smartphone was positive when children's smartphone usage period was 'less than three months'. It was found that parents' awarencess of smartphone was higher in the case of children who used smartphone 'everyday' and 'five to six days a week'. The rearing attitudes of parents differed according to the age of the children. In children's overindulgence on smartphone, there was a difference between the children's gender and the smartphone usage time. It was found that boys had higher levels of smartphone overindulgence than girls, and children who used smartphone ‘everyday’ showed higher smartphone overindulgence level. As a result, the correlation between parents' awarencess of smartphone, rearing attitudes and children's smartphone overindulgence is as follows: the higher rearing attitude score, the lower the children's smartphone overindulgence. The results of this study provide useful basic data for the development of children's smartphone over-immersion prevention programs and parent education materials on smartphone use. |
