The project to restore the Trans-Korean Railroad (TKR), which was disconnected after the Korean War, can alleviate the political and military tensions between South and North Korea and provide a step toward revitalizing economic development and logistics between the two Koreas. To cope with international situations and trade environment, where the realization of gains is a priority amid the prevalence of globalization and the rapid rise of regional communities, it is necessary for South Korea to develop a channel to enter the continent by restoring the connection of the currently disconnected railroads between the two Koreas. This study aims to analyze not only the economic and logistical advantages but also the disadvantages of linking railroads between South and North Korea. Through the results of the analysis, we have analyzed the kind of attitude we should take toward the restoration of the TKR and whether the advantages or disadvantages of linking railroads will be greater. Furthermore, if the linked railroads are highly useful in the economic and logistical aspects, we aim to suggest improvements on what efforts should be made to link the railroads that are currently disconnected between South and North Korea. |
