The efforts to understand the MZ generation's way of thinking and behavior are increasing as the proportion of the MZ generation in the workplace increases since the 2020s. The purpose of this study is to analyze the difference in perception of work-life balance(WLB) according to the generation in public officials. The background of this study includes the social prejudice that public servants of the MZ generation place more importance on work-life balance than other generations. The research data is based on the survey data conducted by the Korea Institute of Public Administration in 2022 with 1,021 public officials. The t-Test technique was used for statistical analysis. As a result of the analysis, there was statistically significant difference between the MZ generation compared to other generations in both the overall WLB pursuit in life and their will to pursuit WLB in a workplace. The prejudice that the MZ generation has a higher tendency to pursue WLB than the older generation as reported in the media is not wrong. The results of this study are meaningful in that they provide quantitative data to understand the thinking and behavior of the MZ generation in relation to WLB. In other words, in the workplace, changes in the corporate culture according to the thinking and behavior of the MZ generation are needed. |
