This study explores the perception of the job experienced by male nursing officers working in military hospitals. For this study, 12 male nursing officers were selected as Delphi panels, and Delphi surveys were conducted. The first Delphi questionnaire was an open-ended question, and 141 statements were constructed from the answers. Afterward, the co-researchers categorized 141 statements. We removed similar contents and determined 7 categories and 72 statements. The four researchers, including two co-researchers and two nursing officers, calculated the content validity index and determined 46 statements out of 72. Later, the second Delphi survey was conducted with the panels to evaluate the appropriateness of the contents of the statement using a Likert 5-point scale. The response to the 2nd Delphi survey was evaluated for content validity ratio, consensus, and convergence. Finally, 32 statements were derived from five categories. The remarkable result of this study is that male nursing officers value physical fitness management through exercise. Moreover, while serving in the military, they looked satisfied by learning nursing skills accompanied by special experiences like managing infectious diseases in national disaster situations or trauma nursing. In addition, they had economic benefits by providing accommodation near military hospitals and being honored as a military officer. They thought their military service period was a valuable opportunity to develop their expertise. |
