In order to discover new growth engines and eco-friendly energy sources at the national level, we are promoting a change in the energy paradigm from the existing carbon resources (oil, coal, gas, etc.) to hydrogen. The Korean government is promoting hydrogen-related policies in many fields to become a leading country in the hydrogen economy. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy developed a large-scale actual vehicle and conducted a demonstration project to commercialize hydrogen trams, which are attracting attention as a next-generation eco-friendly urban transportation method, by 2023. As of November 2023, local governments that want to introduce trams are promoting 21 routes in 33 cities, and among them, Daejeon, Ulsan, and Jeju are promoting the introduction of hydrogen trams. Therefore, in order for hydrogen trams to be commercialized, it is necessary to develop technical standards for railway vehicles and railway equipment for hydrogen trams. The development of technical standards and technical standards for hydrogen fuel cells for railway applications will be able to secure technical standards and technical standards equivalent to those in Europe by presenting the requirements at the level of railway vehicle systems in advance in consideration of the configuration of the system and the technical characteristics of hydrogen and fuel cells. Through securing these technical standards, we intended to suggest ways to apply new technical standards and technical standards for hydrogen fuel cells for railway roads in order to create new industrial clusters in new industrial fields and have a positive impact on the local economy and job creation, revitalize the railway industry with new technologies, and strengthen the competitiveness of national railway technology. |
