논문투고자 Young-Ki Kim
논문내용 The purpose of this study is to clarify the difference in academic achievement between college students with science and engineering majors from vocational high schools and college students from general high schools, and to explore the factors that affect academic achievement by grade. The study subjects were students who entered a university in the third year(2019) of the KEEP II data, and Propensity Score Matching, t-test, and multiple regression analysis were conducted. The research results are as follows. First, there was no difference between students from vocational high schools and general high schools in the grades of the first and second years of college, but the grades of the third year were found to be significantly higher for students from general high schools than for students from vocational high schools. Second, the academic achievement of first-year students was higher as the grades in English and specialized subjects were higher, and lower as the grades in social studies subjects and the relationship with students were better. The academic achievement of 2nd-year students was higher as their first-year grades were higher and their pride in college was higher. The academic achievement of 3rd year students who graduated from a vocational high schools was lower as the college provided information and counseling on careers. Based on the research results, it was suggested that it is necessary to support specialized programs for each grade.
