Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the educational landscape has changed, leading to an increased interest in non-face-to-face educational content and educational games among teachers and parents. However, educational games often suffer from reduced learning effects due to the lack of player immersion. As such, the purpose of this paper is to examine the factors that affect immersion in mobile educational games. This study aims to construct a model for the factors that influence immersion in new mobile educational games, taking into account the characteristics of educational games based on immersion factors by genre and platform. Hypotheses were established based on the model, and statistical methods, including Cronbach reliability analysis, validity analysis, Pearson correlation analysis, and linear regression analysis for measurement items, were applied to the survey data to verify the research model and research hypothesis. Three research results were confirmed. Firstly, among the developer factors, auditory feedback and accessibility have a positive effect on game immersion. Secondly, among the player factors, educational effect, motivation, challenge, and empathy have a positive impact on immersion in educational games. Lastly, among the developer factors, design and compensation do not affect immersion. It is expected that the immersion influencing factors derived in this paper can serve as a theoretical reference for future educational game developers. |
