This study aims to clarify how pre-service teachers in after-school software education classes and pre-service teachers at the teacher’s college perceive the role and qualifications of teachers in software education. Therefore, the pre-service teachers' perceptions of the roles and qualities of teachers for software education were classified, and the characteristics of each type were analyzed. The Q methodology was used in the study, and the Q sort was analyzed with the QUANL 1.2 program. As a result, pre-service teachers' perceptions of teacher roles and qualities for software education were classified into three categories. <Type 1> teachers focus on the learner's learning process support, <Type 2> teachers focus on the learner's understanding, and <Type 3> teachers focus on the teacher's expertise. <Type 1> values the significance of the role of supporter in developing learning abilities such as algorithmic thinking and programming. <Type 2> values learners' comprehension and personality education. <Type 3> values expertise in new computer technologies such as artificial intelligence and the implementation of various teaching methods. In <Type 1>, there were many pre-service teachers in after-school classes. In <Type 3>, there were many pre-service teachers attending the computer education course at the teacher’s college. Finally, <Type 2> consisted of pre-service teachers in after-school classes and pre-service teachers attending computer education courses at the teacher’s college. |
