The purpose of this study is to compare how science and engineering students perceive the value of university and graduate degrees in the present and future society, and to analyze whether these results differ according to individual characteristics. The research results are as follows. First, it was found that in the current society, the longer the period of study, the higher the value of the degree. However, they predicted that in 10 years from now, the value of the professional bachelor's degree will not decrease, but the value of the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree will decrease significantly. Second, the judgment of the value of the degree in the present and future societies did not differ according to individual characteristics, but students of a four-year university evaluated the value of professional bachelor's and bachelor's degrees in the present and future society lower than those from two-year colleges. Based on these research results, it is suggested that the economic effectiveness of bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees should be strengthened, in terms of abilities required by the future society. In addition, it was also suggested that efforts should be made to achieve the original educational purpose of cultivating advanced liberal arts and highly educated experts, to recover the spatial and temporal value. |
