The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between career barriers and employment stress of Chinese university students and to confirm the mediating effect of career elasticity between these two variables. The subjects of this study were 398 Chinese 4-year university students, and to verify this, career barriers, unemployment stress, and career elasticity scales were used. To analyze the collected data, correlation analysis and regression analysis were performed using the SPSS 27.0 program. The main results of this study are as follows. First, it was found that there was a significant positive relationship between career barriers and unemployment stress, and there was a negative correlation between unemployment stress and career elasticity. Second, in the relationship between career barriers and unemployment stress, career elasticity showed a partial mediating effect. Third, in the effect of career barriers on unemployment stress according to gender, the mediating effect of career elasticity was not significant for men, and the partial mediating effect of career elasticity for women was verified. This study presents various basic data and suggestions to help college students who are experiencing unemployment stress as career barriers increase their career elasticity, which is an emotional resource, to help them in career selection and decision-making and to provide career counseling services at universities. |
